Premature aging is a problem many people encounter due to genetics, diet, and lifestyle. While it’s natural to show signs of aging as you grow older, you also might be tempted to slow the clock down. Luckily, you don’t have to turn to gimmicks and plastic surgery to help you look more youthful.
Organic Beauty Industry
With the organic beauty industry projected to reach $25.11 billion USD by 2025, it appears that Canadians are putting their money where their mouth is. More and more are looking to make informed decisions. While ingredients are often centre stage with nearly 80% of Canadians reading ingredient lists at least sometimes, consumers are also looking at everything from a brand’s packaging, to production and to its environmental impact before buying.
When considering a purchase, Canadians believe in supporting brands that:
- provide environmentally-friendly packaging – 77%
- don’t test on animals – 72%
- include all-natural ingredients – 72%
- share their values – 62%
Vegan Personal Care Products
Surprisingly, the trend toward buying gluten-free may be on the decline, only 23% cite it as an important consideration.
Canadians are altruistic consumers who are actively seeking products that are better for them and the environment. In turn, they are asking more from the brands they use daily according to Melanie Armstrong, Canadian Country Manager, Tom’s of Maine. Their customers appreciate not having to choose between product efficacy and their values. There has been a consistent increase in those choosing personal care products that are vegan, not tested on animals and are free from artificial flavours, fragrances, sweeteners, colours and preservatives.
It’s evident that Canadian shoppers no longer want to be passive about the products they choose, especially as they move towards a more natural and organic bathroom routine. Nine in 10 Canadians (89%) wish that brands were more transparent about the ingredients they use. Eight in 10 (81%) want to know where the ingredients in their products come from.
Skin Supplements
Supplements are great to fulfill that demand. They that contain natural ingredients with anti-aging properties are accessible. Anyone can take care of both their looks and health to look younger.
Here are some of the best supplements you can take for younger-looking skin that provide a handful of other benefits.
Collagen
Collagen is the most popular and well-known supplement when it comes to fighting signs of aging. The protein found throughout our body promotes skin elasticity. Our bodies produce less of it as we grow older, hence accelerating signs of aging like wrinkles.
It has been shown that the effects of taking collagen orally can be seen quite rapidly. One study demonstrated that only four weeks of taking collagen daily
n addition to collagen’s effects on the skin, taking it orally can also help fight joint pain and bone problems. If you’re looking for something natural that immediately shows results, collagen is definitely a great choice to take.
Coenzyme Q10
Coenzyme Q10 (CQ10) is an antioxidant produced in your body that plays an essential role in energy production and cellular damage protection. It helps reduce oxidative stress caused by free radicals and other molecules that accelerate aging and diseases related to aging.
Like collagen, the levels of CoQ10 in your body decrease as you get older, and studies have shown that regularly taking it in supplement form not only helps you look younger, but it also improves your quality of life, lessens hospital visits, and slows down physical and mental deterioration.
EGCG
EGCG is a plant compound and type of catechin most commonly found in green tea. It offers a whole lot of health benefits from reduced risk of cancer to heart disease prevention, but it also helps fight against age-related diseases.
Taking concentrated EGCG skin supplements can help reduce signs of aging thanks to their ability to restore functions in cells and promote your body’s cellular damage repair. By drinking green tea regularly, you can get the benefits of EGCG alongside other benefits of green tea including reduced risk of diabetes, stroke, and heart-disease-related death.
The Gist of it
Supplements are a fantastic way to give your body the natural nutrients and compounds it needs to fight aging. These three supplements are a great combination to take. They are anti-aging and provide even more benefits that help us in older age. That’s something that cosmetic procedures certainly can’t give.
