With the pressure of life, people are feeling stressors on their bodies from all angles, even their hair. Hair loss cures have become a popular topic whether it is caused by male-pattern baldness or not. From colour sprays, to extensions and wigs, to supplements, topical or oral products, to surgical procedures, there is a variety to choose from.
Causes of Hair Loss in Men
Around 85% of men will have major hair thinning by the time they’re 50, with some starting as young as 21. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that causes hair follicles to shrink, makes them so small that no hair can grow in them. A genetic trait that comes from their parents is usually the cause but it can sometimes be due to certain medications, too much vitamin A, or lack of protein. Illness or stress can lead to sudden, heavy shedding called telogen effluvium. Luckily, that hair loss type though is reversible.
Hair Loss Cures Claims
There’s no hair loss cures for male-pattern baldness, but some medications can slow it down. While many products claim to bring back the shiny mane of men’s younger years, only a few actually work to help keep baldness at bay. When locks start to thin out, that’s the best time to start these products.
Pill Popping for Hair Loss
Finasteride (Propecia) is a pill that works by lowering levels of DHT. It slows hair loss in about 88% of men and helps hair regrow in about 66%. It can take 6 months to see results. In clinical trials, about 3% of men had some side effects, including a lower sex drive and other sexual problems. These issues can continue after you stop taking the drug. Pregnant women should steer clear from it as it cause birth defects.
Rub-In Remedy
Minoxidil, a.k.a Rogaine, is a liquid or foam that you rub onto your scalp. Studies show it can help hair grow and may also help hold onto the strands left. The earlier Rogaine is started, the more likely it is to help. It needs to be applied for least 4 months and maybe even up to a year before you seeing results. Once it is stopped though, the hair loss returns.
Minoxidil doesn’t come with the side effects Finasteride does but it can cause scalp irritation.
Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT)
It’s unclear how this safe type of light therapy works to put the halt hair loss. It may:
- Encourage hair follicles growth
- Speed up cell reproduction, or
- Improve cell efficiency
Low-level lasers don’t get hot, hurt, or burn tissue. What they do is boost blood flow to your hair roots, bringing nutrients and energy that your hair needs to grow. It can be also done at home with a laser comb, headband, or a small helmet that fits under a baseball cap. It can be applied for 15 minutes, 3 times a week and is cost less than a doctor visits.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)
To make PRP, your doctor takes some of your blood, spins it to separate the platelets from the other cells, and then puts the platelets back into the liquid part of your blood (the plasma). The platelets concentration have hundreds of specialized proteins that aid in healing. That’s why it is often used to treat wounds, tendon tears, and arthritis pain, and now apparently to regrow hair. They inject PRP into your scalp with a small needle helping create or stimulate new hair follicles.
It may start with three treatments giving you thicker and fuller hair after a few months. You might need a booster treatment after 6 months when hair growth starts to slow down. Other than the shots hurting, even with numbing medicine according to some users, there are no side effects. PRP may even be used during hair transplants to kick-start hair growth or to help other treatments.
Hairbro
If the above options don’t sit well with you, you can opt for the hairbro, a hair replacement piece. You only need to shave an area of your head to attach the hairpiece to the scalp. It blends well with the remaining hair on your head and is stable. There is no fear of it falling off or moving.
The hair replacement systems are made out of 100% real human hair, and all woven by hand. It is specifically designed to fit individual’s head, and it meets all requirement such as hair density, colour, and front hairline shape. It is completely undetectable. The custom hair system takes several weeks to make. Check out this video to see how to apply it.
Make the Most of What You Have
Styling tricks can make hair loss stand out less. Cut thinning hair short so you can avoid a comb-over. Certain shampoos, conditioners, and styling products may add volume to what you do have. Eating a balanced diet and handling hair gently ca help in preserving hair as long as possible.
The Gist of it
There are multiple new treatments that can be great hair loss cures. Their success rate is dependent on how the individual reacts. The hair replacement system is a better choice if you’re on the fence about the other treatments though it may be more temporary than others.
