Carpeting can make or break a room. I know when I chose the carpet for my place it was a big decision. I wanted something that could look great, be of good quality, and not show the dirt.
To get some help, I looked to some carpet dealers that would be capable of helping me choose the very best carpeting for my new home.
Carpeting Dealer Questions
When you first walk into a carpeting store, you might immediately feel overwhelmed at all of the choices available. Like anything else, an abundance of choice may be scary.
There are different colours, brands, pile heights, types of yarn, and much more. It’s very easy to get “lost” in one of these stores, unable to make a decision regarding which option will work best for your home. This is why you need to come prepared with a number of questions to ask the professionals staffing the store.
Here are some of the best ones to ask.
Room Matter
Does the room size matter?
The quick answer to this question, as many Dallas carpet dealers will attest, is that “yes, it does matter.” Carpeting can either make a room look bigger or smaller, depending on the colour that you choose. Light coloured carpet will make the space look much bigger, so it works well in small rooms, while dark carpeting can do the opposite – make it look smaller. If you’re putting carpeting in a large room, then you can definitely choose a darker shade in only make the space feel a bit cozier.
High Traffic Areas
What about high foot traffic areas?
If you have a room that receives a lot of foot traffic, in many cases, you’re better off skipping the carpeting in favour of a different type of flooring altogether. However, you can choose a low pile carpet that’s easy to clean and take care of, which also ensures that you won’t have a lot of footprints showing when your guests leave. It’s a valid option, and you definitely can put carpeting in a high traffic room, as long as it’s the right kind.
Pets
What if I have pets?
If you have pets like cats and dogs, you can absolutely have carpeting installed in your home. However, like the carpeting used in high foot traffic spaces, it needs to have a low pile. That way, you don’t have to worry as much about their hair and dander getting trapped in the fibers.
It will also be easier to clean up any messes that your pets leave behind. While many experts will steer pet owners away from purchasing carpeting for their home, it is a good option, as long as you choose the right type of carpet. With other types of flooring, it’s much easier to spot their hairs lingering around.
Bedrooms
Is carpet a good choice for bedrooms?
Installing carpeting in your bedroom is a wise choice since that space doesn’t get a lot of foot traffic. Plus, there’s nothing quite like getting up in the morning and stepping onto a soft, fluffy carpet. If you’re in a colder climate, walking into a cold floor can leave you freezing. Extremities are the first to freeze.
Carpeting is definitely one of the best flooring options for bedrooms in general. You need to look for a type of carpeting that has a high pile and is made of very soft yarn. This type of carpeting will work best in your bedroom and even the hallway outside of it. You want comfort, not something utilitarian.
The Gist of it
Carpeting can be a very useful flooring options for your home whether you have a small or large home. A carpet dealer can help you determine what type of carpet to choose. You just need to make sure you let them know what your needs are.
