What does your watch say about you? Depending on which brand you choose, it defines some of your personality traits.
Many of the brands that may determine what you’re like, are higher end and luxury brands. While the luxury brands have built a name and a loyal customer base around themselves, that doesn’t mean there aren’t affordable alternative to these luxurious timepieces.
Men’s Designer Watches Affordable Options
We’re coming close to Valentine’s Day. Many of you will be looking for a gift for your man and while you love him very much, you want to find something that represents his personality but that’s also affordable.
Let’s look at what each brand signifies and what type of man it represents.
IWC Schaffhausen
At a price tag between $3500 and $27500, these Swiss watches aren’t cheap. Men who prefer the IWC are usually family men who enjoy adventure, mountain climbing, scuba diving. They like driving big city SUVs and live in big homes. Despite their larger than lifestyle, they are generally nice guys.
Alternate the IWC Schaffhausen with the Small chronographs vintage style from William L. 1985 watches.
Tag Heuer
Is for the adrenaline junkie who loves hooded shirts, car racing, space expeditions and is price conscious. Humbly priced between $1800 to $5000, thee timepieces are for the dude who likes to show off logo marked items but without the hefty price tag.
The Mako Blue Dial Dive from Orient watches is an alternative option to the Tag Heuer.
Rolex
Men who own or like Rolexes want a watch that looks as good as their suits. They generally like nice things such as luxury cars, designer labels and coveted vacation spot.
They tend to however be safe in terms of their choices, selecting only brands they know and trusts. But at a price range anywhere from $6000 to $300000, these beauties are only made for the 1% of the world!
An alternative to the Rolex is the Invicta 2-tone steel bracelet dive watch.
F.P. Journe
These men’s designer watches are made for older, more mature grey foxes who just happen to look like previous tennis players or cyclists. They are men who’ve aged extremely well, aristocratic, calm, and often downplay their wealth by sporting a preppy outfit.
At a cost between $15000 and $170000, these men’s designer watches are expensive. But don’t let all this wealth deter you away, they are have a very friendly demeanour.
You can find a great alternative to the F. P. Journe in the Fossil Men’s Brown Leather Watch.
Jaeger Lecoultre
These men’s designer watches are for those accomplished men who honour tradition and technical perfection. They pay an excruciating amount of attention to quality, yet they are bon vivant and have a good sense of humour. At a price range between $5000 and $60000, they surely a lasting timepiece.
An alternative to the Jaeger Lecoultre is the Fossil Automatic Townsman Dial Watch.
Hublot
The most expensive Hublot watch stands at $5 million dollars. Wow now that’s crazy! Guys into these men’s designer watches are generally polo shirt wearing jet setters in their mid 50s. They like conspicuous brands but rumour has it that the younger version of them are muscular tattoo armed blokes who have a taste for life.
The Invicta Sea Spider Dive Watch is an alternative option to the Hublot.
Richard Mille
Visionary, genius, insane, obsessive, eccentric, stylish, does his own thing is the type of dude that would be into the Richard Mille brand. These men’s designer watches are unique in their look and have a very futuristic appeal to them. If it’s the Rafael Nadal model that interests you, well that one sits at about $2 million.
The Invicta Swiss Quartz S1 Touring Chronograph is a great alternative to the Richard Mille.
Panerai
Those that wear the Panerai watch are former hipsters who like to escape to the most buzzing scenes in the city after work. They keep an unkempt appearance and love urban vibes.
Their ad agency job may afford them this watch that ranges between $5000 and $24000 but you can find an alternative to it in the Ferrari Formula Sportiva Watch.
Breitling
The Breitling man understands business. He’s a salesmen from his day, starting off his entrepreneur days from when he was still in school. He has a dominant personality, loves comfort food and football.
The Breitling for Bently can run as high as $255000. While it may be slightly under some of the other men’s designer watches, it is no where near affordable. But I’ve got the perfect alternative for it with this TW Steel CEO Tech Chronograph Dial Date Watch.
Patek Philippe
Sotheby’s auction sold the mot expensive Patek Philippe watch at a whopping $11 million. A Patek watch is for the lover of Mercedes and Jaguars. This man is an avid news follower, a wine connoisseur, perfectionist, disciplined, and loves his routine.
Find an alternative to it in this Bulova Swarovski Crystal Watch.
The Gist of it
If you’re on a hunt for an elegant men’s designer watches but can’t afford the price, there are several alternatives that match the personality of your beau. Most come in different colour or band options so you can customize it to your liking.

These are all popular watches! I still can’t believe how much Rolexes are!! I just got my husband an Apple watch for his birthday, it seems those are pretty trendy right now, too. Altho, they aren’t the classic watch style!
