We all love to wear white clothing in the summer, especially if you live in colder climates as there’s limited time you can wear this colour, if you stick by certain fashion boundaries that is.
Yet, I feel like wearing white clothing can be daunting sometimes. You have to ensure you got the right undies, bra, etc. because is many cases, you’re better off heading out into the streets in sheer clothing.
Now to many that’s a trend they like. Good for them. For those with more
modest fashion taste, it can be problematic.

Wearing White Clothing Without Feeling Almost Naked
For me, while I don’t consider myself to be completely prudish with my clothes, I do like to keep my undergarments private.
Over the years, I’ve built a list of tips to adhere to when wearing white clothing. They helped me enjoy this hot summer trend without feeling completely exposed.
Of course, depending on the piece you wear, you’ll need to adapt. While not each piece you wear under will be fully underexposed, it surely helps in making you feel more comfortable wearing white clothing.

Skin-tone Shorts or Spanx
Skin-tone shorts are best for white maxi dresses and skirts as they tend to be the biggest offenders.
Fabric has a lot to do with it but most summer dresses are either made with cotton or polyester, and spandex integrated. Take this gorge

The other option would be
spanx, which is a great alternative, but I personally don’t like them as they are too snug and warm for the summer.
The ones I’m wearing, are cotton and have a comfy legging feel.

Skin Colour Boy Shorts
No, I’m not asking you to grab your man’s briefs, but a pair from the lingerie shop meant for ladies.
Boy shorts are perfect for short, mid-length dresses and skirts. While once again all is dependant on the fabric, in general with white, there is no escaping the exposure of your underpants.
For this gorgeÂ
white bodycon dress, as the fabric was slightly thicker than the long dress, I was able to get away with a boxer-brief type underwear.
It worked perfectly and covered what it needed.
However, if you encounter an more exposed effect with the fabric your dress is made with, revert to the skin-colour shorts.
A strapless bra should also work well though if you find there’s still lack of coverage, add a
skin tone camisole or
tube top as I did here.

Skin-tone Fullbacks or Thongs
Surprisingly, pants, unless made with linen or light cotton or polyester, offer up more coverage.
With denim, like the one I’m wearing here with this super cute off-the-shoulder denim top with pompoms, there’s little worry about coverage. Essentially, a skin colour full back or thong should work fine to keep you comfy.
If you’re stuck with lighter fabrics, opting for boxer-brief type undies works well for these situations.

The Gist of it
Don’t shun white away because you feel like you are running nearly naked in the streets. Consider the above options for the different garments, such as skin tone shorts, boxer briefs, tanks, tube tops, thongs, full back underwear, and bras. Take them as must haves in your wardrobe and remember that the same trick applies to all light colours or fabrics, not just white 😉
