Two months ago, I opened up on the blog about my fitness journey since my teenage years. It’s a series I am documenting to show what I did over the years to achieve the level of fitness and body shape I’ve always wanted in hopes of helping others.
In episode 1, I left off at the Glamour diet that helped me lose some of the weight I wanted rid of 18 months after my first pregnancy, as I wanted to lean out more.
I showed you on to what I did after my second pregnancy to losing baby weight I gained in episode 2.
In this one, I am still discussing the thyroid diet I mentioned in the last episode, but jumping into phase 2 of the diet. Here’s what I looked like until thus far. I apologize for the lack of good pictures of me but I had no idea I would be writing about this a few years later.
The Thyroid Solution Diet to Keep on Losing Baby Weight
The Thyroid Solution diet by Dr. Arem is comprised of 2 phases. Once I wrapped up with phase 1, I was ready to jump into phase 2.
The main difference between phase 1 and 2, are grains and grain-derived foods that are now part of the diet. They are a good source of protein and fibre and provide carbs, portions of whole grain foods that may replace legumes and fruits.
Phase 2 is more of a maintenance phase whereas phase 1 was for weight loss acceleration.
The Food
There are 2 phases to the Thyroid Solution Diet:
- The first is 6 weeks.
- The second is 12 weeks.
Once the second phase ends, start again with the first phase but for 2 weeks only.
Below is a sample of what you can eat. The book details many more food items you can choose from. If you like variety, I suggest you get the book and create your own combos. I did continue to take Garcenia Cambogia to help me in the process.
Phase 2
Breakfast
- 4 egg whites – Protein 1
- 1/2 fat-free Greek-style yogurt – Protein 2
- 1 1/2-2 cups of cucumber – Fiber
- 1/8 avocado – Fats
- 1 pack instant oats – Carbs 1
- 1/4 cup strawberries – Carbs 2

- 1/2 cup baby carrots
- 6 almonds
Lunch
- 2-3 ounces chicken – Protein 1
- 1 cup cooked lentils – Protein 2
- 1 cup spinach – Fiber
- 1/8 avocado – Fats

Exercises
From the first phase, I implemented HIIT according to what the diet suggestion in order to keep losing baby weight. Essentially, the format remained the same but the type of activity changed:
- 1 minute high intensity
- 2 minutes medium to low intensity
- repeat for 30-40 minutes 5x a week.
- incorporate ab workouts 3x a week.
You can do whatever exercices you like as long as you apply the HIIT elements to it.
Other Contributing Factors
I continued doing the following to keep losing baby weight:
- Eating on schedule
- Taking Garcenia Cambogia
- Sleeping 6-8 hours
The Gist of it
My weight struggles after my second and third pregnancies lead me to go various ways, give up and finally get back on my feet to losing baby weight I gained. After landing on the Thyroid Solution diet by Dr. Arem, and finishing up the first phase, I was ready to tackle phase 2 of the diet which helped keep my weight off.
What I did to ensure the pounds remained off:
- Taking Garcenia Cambogia
- Sleeping 6-8 hours
- Following the second phase of the Thyroid Solution Diet
to keep losing baby weight.
- After 12 weeks of phase 2, I switched back to phase 1 for 2 weeks then back to phase 2 again.
The next phase will take you to how I lost my baby weight after 4th pregnancy. Stay tuned!

So glad you visited and made me aware about your blog post.
My thyroid has been wonky since I had my son 35 yrs ago!
Even now the Dr has to tweak my thyroid meds once a year.
It’s unbelievable how much the thyroid affects the entire body.
Thank you for sharing this information.
Best wishes, Mimi

Mimi I am so happy I was able to help even in a small way! I’m sorry to hear about your thyroid problem but sadly it’s all too common with women and we are often stuck not knowing what to do. Hopefully this diet will help heal some of those pains.

I have baby weight from 27 years ago hahaha! I suspect my difficulties losing weight have more to do with my age and the wine, but The Thyroid Diet book looks like it might be a worthwhile read. Thanks for sharing with us at Creatively Crafty #ccbg 🙂
