Advice on Fashion, Beauty, Fitness, Home Décor & DIY

Obsessions With Animal Head Accessories

August 16, 2015 · Decor/Craft DIY, Home Décor

It seems that everywhere you turn, you’ll find one animal head or another. It’s very prevalent in decor shops..or maybe it’s just me.

I’ve moved into a new home recently. Decorating has brought me to every furniture/home decor brick and mortar and e-store there is on the planet.

But I don’t think it’s just me. Otherwise when I type “animal head” in the search engines, I wouldn’t get a slew of faux taxidermy listings. So I conclude, it’s our new human obsession.

Now that I’ve determined that, I must admit, I LOVE animal head accessories! I am a victim of the new at home and in fashion trend.

In fact, I am setting myself up to have a few around the house. Since I need so many, I’ve decided to immerse myself in another DIY project to make my animal head accessories.

DIY Animal Head Accessories for the Home

Looking online, here are some ideas I found.

Cardboard Deer Head

You’ve surely seen these around from Cardboard Safari. A very casual feel to your home, it would look great in a bedroom or family room.

However, if you don’t have $30 to drop on cardboard pieces, Instructables has clear steps, template included, for you to make your very own deer head from cardboard.

Not only does it liven up a room, it’s totally eco – made from re-usable, recyclable materials like cardboard!

Paper Rabbit Bust

Anthology Mag provided this excellent template to follow. The end result is an origami-inspired rabbit bust that looks fantastic in a kids room.

You know that’s what I’m going to do!! It’s a very soft and cute look, just like kids are…when they’re sleeping of course lol…

Animal Head Accessories in Fashion

In fashion, the possibilities of incorporating animal heads are endless. From rings, to necklace pendants, to earrings, there is so much out there to express animal instinct.

I own a pair of lion head earrings, a cheetah ring, and an owl necklace. I’ve had them for a while and I STILL find they’re in style…it’s like leopard print, it never ceases to be fashionable.

Here are a few other animal head accessories I’ve found online that are on my wish list.

Leopard Brooch

This leopard brooch from Coco Princess is simply stunning. Sophisticated and elegant, it would go so well with a simple white blouse or even on a headband.

Lion Cufflinks

I found these lion men’s cufflinks on Etsy. No doubt these would amplify a men’s outfit. It’s an original piece to add, giving immediate style and panache!

Bullhead Backpack

Finally, here is something that works well for kids and adults alike. This handmade bullhead backpack is of genuine leather. While it may not hold much, it surely will store your most needed belongings when you’re out and about and dont want to carry a heavy duty purse.

It’s got adjustable straps and you’d be turning heads as you walk away with your animal head accessorising your back!

Thanks for your post! A little more info: We do have small sized animal heads for $15 if you don’t want to spend $30! All of our pieces are laser cut so they have very clean edges that fit together beautifully. We also have the buck (and several others) available in a beautiful birch plywood. We take pride in the fact that of our products are designed and made in the USA.

Nice post that combines fashion, jewellery and furniture! I’m not that into this trend – maybe because in Northern Italy every hunter has his house full of dead animal-heads 😉

The Trucker convoy is still going strong and sprea The Trucker convoy is still going strong and spreading around the world. The trump cheerleaders found themselves another excuse to occupy institutional buildings and the cities that house them. While I too am fed up of the mandates, I don’t believe their plights are justified. Yes it’s frustrating the flip flop between closures and reopening, and while they are implemented at times to limit the spread as to alleviate the strain on the healthcare system, as annoying as they are, I don’t think it’s a reason to be shouting freedom on parliament hill, harassing residents or blatantly displaying racist symbols and rhetoric. For the most part, mandates are not stopping anyone from living, going out, even travelling! They’re a temporary inconvenience to our daily lives, but in due time, will be lifted as COVID becomes more manageable. This isn’t the worlds first go around at a pandemic. Each round takes time to return things back to normal…Just go back to 1918 to see what happened…were those public health measures still in effect 5 or 10 years later?? My heart goes out to businesses and employees whose livelihoods have suffered, especially as gov assistance winds down. But like all trends, major events force humanity to readapt (think automation). Vacancy rate has been at an all time high and unemployment back to pre-pandemic levels, proof that many employees and businesses have retooled and transformed. If those convoys feel strongly about protesting, they should protest for healthcare reform. Canada is ranking as the worst in the G7 for healthcare. Our system is riddled with administrators, not enough doctors or nurses. Caps are put in residency spots and foreign trained healthcare workers waste expertise on low-skilled work as they’re deemed “not good enough” to work in the Canadian healthcare system…now that’s something worth shouting freedom for! Swipe left for more.
