The 80s style has been here and back a ton of times in the last couple of years. It seems like every season there’s always a style that comes stemming from Madonna’s golden years.
How exactly do you do 80s style without looking like you came out of the Material Girl and Holiday’s videos?
Elements of the 80s Style
The Hair
For this look I styled the hair with a slight twist, a cute short mod cut. Sure it might sounds more like the 60s but to make sure your 80s style is tamed, we can’t go all the way with every single element (unless it’s Halloween).
The Top
This animal print top is great, it is one print that always comes back in style. So if you invest in an animal print top, once the season is over, don’t get rid of it, it’ll surely come back.
The denim vest was a last minute addition that really brought the 80s style out.
The Accessories
If you want to add accessories, put on a bangle or earrings, but don’t over do it. There are already enough elements in this outfit.
The Bottom
I went with the obvious choice, skinny jeans in black. This compliments the black in the top and makes it a little ore rock and roll.
The Shoes
I went with flats for comfort and practicality. They are pretty stylish though with the gold chain on the front, and the body is quilted.
The Jest of it
Get your 80s style in check by following a few simple tips:
- Got for a bold tops
- Add a vest for a real retro feel
- Skinny jeans as it was a total hit back then
- Keep the hair in this era or inspired from a different one
- Go for flats to keep it practical
What other tips do you have for your 80s style? I’d love to hear them.
