Most of us own at least a couple of fashion leather jacket for the cooler weather. Sometimes we put them on just for style, whether it’s cold or not. At least I know I do, because God knows how much I adore my leather.
For some, it is uncertain whether the leather jackets they have are fashionable and on trend. Like I said, I love leather jackets but that doesn’t mean all of them are fashionable. So the real questions is, which iconic leather jackets are fashionable and worth investing in the long term??

Fashion Leather Jackets List
I’ve put together a list of fashion leather jackets that are not only on trend, but classic pieces. Whether you wore them 10 years ago, today or in 10 years, they will always keep their fashionable state and age gracefully.
#1 – Biker Chick – Moto Jacket
The moto jacket cut was made made famous by Marlon Brando when he wore it in the Wild One (1953). It’s notably one of my favourite cuts as I find it brings out the rebel in you. You can find it in many colours, such as black, brown, eggplant, caramel, and more.
#2 – Aviator Amateur – Bomber Jacket
Originally worn by war plane aviators in the early 1900s and in the Second World War, the bomber jacket cut was adopted to civilian use by skinheads. Fear not, wearing it will not automatically associate you to them. Your purpose it purely fashionable and their use of it is nothing but a historical reference. I do love the bomber fashion leather jackets mostly in black, but also in military green.
#3 – Fur Lover – Shearling Jacket
While the addition of the sheepskin was for warmth, the popularity of the shearling jacket shot to fame thanks to Tom Cruise in Top Gun. I guess we have more than his pretty face to thank him for ;). Usually the shearling is found on the collar and cuffs.
#4 – Lazy Modernist – Slouchy Collar Jacket
A more recent take on the traditional peaked collar, slouchy collars have been popping up in all kinds of apparels, including leather jackets. The slouchy collar leather jackets surely bring a modernized look to more than century old clothing item.

#5 – Futuristic Lady – Collarless Jacket
Pierre Cardin was the first to bring the collarless jacket to us by showing it off on the Beatles, and fashion has since adopted it as a staple. Regardless of how old this trend is, it still has that space age, futuristic appeal to it.
The Gist of it
Fashion leather jackets come in different looks, cuts, and colours. While I am a big advocate for having at least one leather coat in your closet, I highly recommend you review the list to make sure your wardrobe incorporates one of the fashion leather jackets mentioned below:
- Moto jacket
- Bomber jacket
- Shearling collar/sleeves jacket
- Slouchy collar jacket
- Collarless jacket
