I’ve been looking around at photos to evaluate my swimsuit style. Believe it or not, I haven’t gone swimsuit shopping in ages. Figured I’d start at Instagram to check out what swimsuit style flatters me best.
Is the Monokini your Swimsuit Style?
@almipotent sported this uber sexy monokini that goes well with her pinup appeal. It really shows off her artistic tattoos without taking away from the look of her swimsuit style.

@xiolovesfashion donned this slightly different cut monokini but equally flattering. It shows a little more of the hip area.

So I went on the hunt to see what I can find. I came across this classic Kenneth Cole version. While it shows off the bust and the hips, it does provide some coverage. You can adjust it at the bust to your liking and your swimsuit style.

What About the Bandeau?
The bandeau is always a safe option if you don’t like to show off much cleavage. However, for the less busty, you might feel like it flattens you. You can get a top with underwire and padding which can do the trick if that’s the swimsuit style you best prefer.
@thebubblyblonde shows off her patriotism and swimsuit style with this stars and stripes version.
In search of a bandeau top that would suit my colour ways, I stumbled upon Jessica Simpson’s starburst bikini top. Not only is it refreshing, but the pattern adds volume where you need it!

Do You Need More Coverage?
If you like the look of the one-piece but hate taking it off when you have to go to the bathroom because it sticks to you like honey when wet, the monokini is a more practical option. Plus this swimsuit style gives you additional coverage where you want it without hindering on style. Take @mckenzietruman adorable peplum top tankini with polka dots in cinnamon. I almost want to wear it out not just at the beach.
If polka dots are not your thing, I found this classic black and white version by Joe Caribbean that’s just as nice.

A Sporty Look
If you plan on playing beach volley ball or running along the sandy shores, consider a halter for extra support. Of course it’s not a pre-requisite because if your swimsuit style calls for additional support, the halter is your bestie.
Here’s how @chiychoko wears her with an early 90s edge to it.

For a more colourful, less 90s inspired look, check out Kenneth Cole’s Go for Gold halter bikinis. There print and colours are very versatile and allow to be matched with any bottom.

The Bohomian
Nobody has done it better than @solange_marie_ when it comes to the bohemian fringed bikini. I find this particular number to be very flattering. I absolutely love the colour!

But if having fringes on your suit is enough drama, you can also go for a more demure colour such as black. This suit offers full body control to shape in the areas you need. The great thing about going with a neutral colour is you can accessories without feeling overwhelmed that you’ve got too much going on.

The Girly Girl
What’s cuter than ruffles than a preggers wearing a ruffle bikini?? You cannot beat that. @Lindsey_m_newsom definitely nailed it in this shot. I’m sure mama and baby got plenty of sun that day!

If you haven’t gotten that perfect tanned skin yet, and might feel to washed out in white, try this bright hued Kenneth Cole ruffled bikini in teal.

Your Turn
That’s a wrap for me. Now don’t forget to show me what YOUR swimsuit style is. Leave comments, links, photos, I’d love to see what you’re going for at the beach 🙂
