The runways were full of futuristic looks for the Spring/Summer 07 season, from 60’s space odyssey, to metallic fabrics to lucite heels and accessories.
Translating Futuristic Looks
It is a bit hard to translate this trend to street style but there are alternatives.
Sequins
Bebe has come up with a silver and bronze sequinned knit top ($79). This sexy item can be combined with skinny jeans and a pair of heels. It is more of an evening futuristic look as it would be too shiny for broad daylight. To accessorize, you can add on some Lucite bangles.
Another option that’s again more suited to evening wear than daywear are the sequin jackets. I very much love that trend and think it’s totally hip. While I haven’t completely warmed up to it, it’s something I am surely thinking of investing in.
Long Tops
You might have seen long tops roaming around on fashionistas lately. They’ve really made a hit this year. I know I have a few in various colours. I find this trend to be quite practical and comfortable. Plus you can easily dress it up or down, wear it summer it or winter.
Silver
Silver is a colour that makes an appearance every now and then in fashion. We’ve seen it in the sixties, eighties, briefly in the nineties and now again. It might not suit everyone as you really have to know what to pair it with and not go overboard. For an evening look though, I think it’s worth a try.
